Boatsmart Shop – Returns & Refunds

At Boatsmart Shop, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you need to return an item, we're here to make the process as straightforward as possible. This policy complies with UK consumer legislation, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

30-Day Returns

If you've changed your mind, you may return most unused items within 30 days of receiving your order.

To be eligible for a return, the item must:

  • Be unused and in its original condition.

  • Be complete with all packaging, manuals and accessories.

  • Be in a resalable condition.

  • Be accompanied by proof of purchase.

Please contact us before returning any item so we can provide return instructions.

Faulty or Damaged Goods

If your order arrives damaged, defective or incorrect, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery where possible.

If an item develops a manufacturing fault within its warranty period, we'll arrange an appropriate remedy, which may include:

  • Repair

  • Replacement

  • Refund

This is subject to inspection and the manufacturer's warranty terms where applicable.

Please provide photographs of any damage along with your order number to help us resolve your claim as quickly as possible.

Non-Returnable Items

The following items cannot normally be returned unless faulty:

  • Electrical components that have been installed or connected.

  • Special order or non-stock items ordered specifically for you.

  • Custom-made or personalised products.

  • Sealants, lubricants, paints, adhesives and chemicals where the seal has been broken.

  • Software, charts or digital downloads.

  • Gift cards.

Engines & Large Items

Outboard engines, trailers and other oversized products may be subject to additional return conditions.

If an engine has been registered, commissioned, fuelled or installed, it cannot normally be returned unless faulty.

Large items requiring pallet or specialist transport may incur collection charges if returned following a change of mind.

How to Return an Item

  1. Contact our customer service team with your order number and reason for return.

  2. We will issue return instructions.

  3. Securely package the item to prevent damage during transit.

  4. Send the item using a tracked delivery service where appropriate.

Unless the item is faulty or supplied incorrectly, customers are responsible for return shipping costs.

We recommend retaining proof of postage until your refund has been processed.

Refunds

Once your return has been received and inspected, we'll notify you of the outcome.

If approved, refunds will normally be processed within 5–10 working days to your original payment method.

Original delivery charges are refundable only where required by UK consumer law or where the return is due to our error.

Exchanges

Where stock is available, we're happy to exchange eligible items for an alternative size, colour or product.

If the replacement item differs in price, we'll either refund the difference or request any additional payment before dispatch.

Warranty

Many products supplied by Boatsmart Shop include a manufacturer's warranty.

Warranty periods vary between manufacturers and products. Warranty claims do not cover:

  • Fair wear and tear.

  • Accidental damage.

  • Incorrect installation.

  • Improper maintenance.

  • Misuse or neglect.

  • Corrosion or environmental damage where excluded by the manufacturer.

Incorrect Orders

If you believe you've received the wrong item, please contact us before fitting or using the product. We'll arrange for the correct item to be supplied as quickly as possible.

Returning an Item

Before sending any item back, please contact our customer service team so we can assist you with the return process and provide the correct return address.

Please include:

  • Your order number.

  • Your name and contact details.

  • The item(s) being returned.

  • The reason for the return.
